Sofia's 4 month appointment

Sofia is four and a half months old. Say what?? Yeah. 4.5 months. I can't believe it either. I tell her to slow down but she doesn't listen. At her appointment on 7/9/14 she weighed 15 lbs 13.3 ounces (*mommy reminder* she had just blown out a diaper and was also ready to eat again) and was 26.5 inches. So for weight she was in the 77th percentile and length was the 98th percentile. Last visits she was 12.10 lbs and was 24 inches which are the 75th and 94th percentiles. She's growing like a weed! I had been a little worried though about her weight gain so I was relieved to see her move up a couple percentiles and was happy the doctor was happy with her progress.  She also got her booster shots and I noticed her legs were a little sore the day after. Poor thing.

Sofia is mobile, heaven help me. She likes to roll, she can roll both ways but prefers to roll back to belly where she plays until she is tired and screams for me to come help her. I think she forgets she knows how to roll. The other night she rolled from back to belly and had so much momentum she nearly flipped her feet over her head. It was hilarious. She lately has also been playing in her Johnny jump up and her bear chair walker with wheels. She isn't quite sitting up on her own but I am excited for when she can. It will make taking pictures of her a whole lot easier. She has had a couple few second stretches where she can sit on her own. Makes me proud!

She's always been really happy but she is a tough crowd, it's hard to make her laugh. However, Greg got her laughing on Sunday and it was pretty funny. She's got a goofy little laugh.  Sofia has gotten way better at keeping her pacifier in her mouth which is such a relief. She has been doing great. The only problem we have is that she can pull her pacifier out and can't put it back in....

Sofia is back to sleeping completely through the night which is such a relief.  There was like a two week stretch there where I felt like I was waking up anywhere from 2:30-4:30 am. It was awful.  Now we are back to our 10:30pm-7am, eat and then sleep til 10am routine which I am loving. I hope she can keep this up. Especially for when we travel home at the end of this month.  Fingers crossed!

Sofia is in the last of her 6 month clothes and fits into her 9 month clothes as well which just blows me away. Her biggest problem is how tall she is. I am going to need to get some twelve month Pjs to have on hand for when her 9 mo ones aren't working, which could be soon.

Sofia really is such a fun girl to have around. She keeps me busy but we share many tender moments as well. I love nursing her and seeing her sweet chubby legs and arms. They are so soft I just melt.  And those eyes. I love when she looks me straight in the eye or cranks her neck when someone else is holding her so that she can keep an eye on her mama. Makes it all worth it.  I love her so much.  And even though babies are so much work, every moment of every day my world revolves around her and her needs but its amazing how maternal insticts kick in and what would have seemed like such a sacrifice before, I don't even think twice about doing now. Grateful for those mommy instincts.

Today I am so overwhelmingly grateful for the blessing of having her in our home and that we are a forever family. I am so grateful that Greg and I were sealed for time and all eternity in a Temple of the Lord.  I can't bear the thought of losing either of them and its comforting to know we have forever. I love them both so much.  Its easy to get caught up in the crazy parts of life but between diaper changes and all the feedings I have been thinking lately about how the the most important things are our families and loved ones.  I am so blessed to be able to stay at home all day every day with Sofia. We are lucky to have a husband/dad who comes home to us every evening after working hard all day long so that he can provide for us, and loves us even though we may have made a mess of the house. Honestly, I hit the jackpot.

Now here are some pictures of Sofia we snapped over the last month or so

Sofia's Summer

Sofia is 3 and a half months old and is a big girl.  On 6/9/14, Sofia weighed 15 lbs 3 ounces which was exactly one month after her two month appointment where she weighed 12 lbs 10 ounces. She still eats like a champ and I am so grateful. The only time she cries is when she is hungry and thats an easy fix, however when she can't see me she does like to fake cry. Sweet girl just wants her mama!
She is so social and loves to talk and make friends. Lately shes been talking to strangers in the check out line at WalMart and everyone just loves her. She loooves seeing herself in the mirror and her reactions are so funny. I have been wanting to record her seeing herself and should probably do that sooner than later. Sofia lately has been waking up around anywhere from 3am-5am to nurse which is so abnormal for her. Before she would sleep from 10:30-6am no problem so this extra feeding has been throwing off my groove. I don't know how some moms handle their baby not sleeping longer than 4 hours. Sofia also has been putting her fists in her mouth like crazy. She loves loves loves her pacifier, but when that pops out and is irretrievable, her fist and/or a mouth full of blanket works fine. Having her wear dresses or anything with a skirt of ruffle has been diffifult because she always just pulls it up and puts it in her mouth leaving her soaked.  She also has been so difficult to put her fists through sleeves because while her fist is in the middle of her sleeve she does everything within her power to put her fist in her mouth. I try really hard to be quick! She also has been so alert. Wide eyed and bushy tailed. I love it.

Having a little babe and running errands and traveling is a bit intimidating. However, I finally feel as though I have the car seat/diaper bag/nursing on the go thing down. Before I would always carry a bottle, but nowadays there is no need. Just get that girl her food every four hours...or else...

Currently Greg is doing a summer residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Altoona, PA and because he has the weekends off with no homework or anything we have been taking advantage of the free time. So far we have visited Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Gettysburg. Sofia has been such a trooper and just hangs out in her stroller taking naps and being such a happy babe. I love getting to see the sites and cities that we have seen in countless movies, pretty fun! BUT I also love seeing all the history! In Philadelphia we got to see some really old buildings like Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the oldest indoor farmers market with some amazing food. In Washington state where I am from you don't come across things that are very old all that often.  So living here on the east coast and getting to see things that were around in the 1700's.. pretty amazing!! I think one of my favorite things I saw (second to the Lincoln Memorial, of course!!) was in the National history smithsonian they have a display of formal dresses that the First Ladies have worn and I loved seeing those dresses. Greg didn't even look at that exhibit.  He missed out! Anyway, here are some pictures of us over the last month.

Two month old Sofia

Today Sofia turns two months old. 8 weeks and 5 days to be exact, however, it has come to my attention that Sofia is getting to the age where its time I start telling her age in months, not weeks. I can't be that mom telling people my baby is 20 weeks old. And yes it is sad. Just one more thing I can't get back. We are loving her new stages of development but can you blame me for wanting my sweet baby to stay small forever?

The picture of the left is 1 month old, the picture on the right is 2 months old.  She looks pretty much the same (thank goodness) but if you look closely you can tell she is starting to thicken up and is getting some fat on those legs and arms.

In the last two weeks Sofia has become super playful and gives me many smiles a day. I have had some long conversations with her where we can carry on for about 8 or 9 exchanges. I love talking to her and hearing her sweet voice with each coo. She talks our ears off and we don't mind. I wish I knew what she was saying.  She also is getting pretty good at playing with her little floor mat/piano.  She kicks her feet like crazy and keeps herself entertained quite well which is fun and a relief for me to see. I feel like I have been trying to keep a balance between holding Sofia and cuddling her but also giving her time to sit alone and have quiet time. I don't want her to think she needs to be held all the time.

She really is such a good baby though. I can't hardly think of anything she doesn't like- besides waiting for her food and when she is woken up early from her naps she is a little cranky, but most all babies are.  I feel like she came out of the womb being a pretty good sleeper and an excellent eater so we have been very blessed.  She basically just hangs out with me all day, loving life and milkin me for all I'm worth. Literally. Ha!

This year was our first time getting to celebrate Easter on our own. I have never done baskets because we were always on vacation so it was fun to be able to take on that role this year. Of course Sofia even got her own basket- not that she can use or eat half of it but it was all fun anyways. :)

Sofia in the same dress I wore for my first Easter 24 years ago.

Sofia's first Easter Basket- Don't worry, Greg ate allll the peeps.

I also was finally able to find a rug for Sofia's Nursery. I love it. And to top it off I found it at Ross for $11. Makes you love it even more, doesn't it? Actually, this reminds me that I never posted any pictures of the nursery all finished. I will have to take some with Sofia in it.

Sofia loves her pacifier and unfortunately the poor girl is always accidently popping it out of her mouth. During tummy time we practice holding it in her mouth.

And now finally some cute pictures of my baby girl.

She loves watching T.V.
